The Khaite Lotus Bag: Sizes, Leathers, Raffia and How to Wear It

Khaite Blake Top Handle Bag in Champagne Alligator

The Khaite Lotus bag is a scarf-inspired tote with a soft, gathered body, a rounded base and a toggle closure hidden inside. It is made in four sizes, Nano, Mini, Small and Medium, and at Coveti it costs from $1,940 for the Mini in black and white raffia to $5,400 for the Medium in black suede. Khaite designs every version to be especially lightweight, and that lightness is the point of the bag.

The Lotus is the shape Khaite itself calls its signature form, and it has grown into a full family of leathers, raffias, fringe and even jewellery. Here is how the sizes differ, which leathers to choose, what the raffia and fringe versions are, and how to wear it. For the rest of the label’s bags, from the Blake to the Cate, see the Khaite bag guide, and for everything in stock, the Khaite brand page.

What is the Khaite Lotus bag?

Khaite describes the Lotus as a scarf-inspired signature form. In practice that means a tote without hard corners: the leather gathers at the top like a knotted scarf, then falls into a rounded base that lets the bag stand upright on a table. There is no zip on the bag itself. The Small closes with a jewellery-like toggle at the interior, and the Mini uses a gold chain toggle. The result is a bag that looks soft and carries light, which is why it works as well with denim as with tailoring.

The Lotus name now extends to Khaite jewellery too. Earrings, an ear cuff, a ring, a cuff and pendants are all based on the bag’s scarf-inspired shape, from the Lotus Ear Cuff in Silver at $750 to the Medium Lotus Pendant in Gold at $2,160. The full range is in the Khaite jewellery guide.

Khaite Lotus sizes: Nano, Mini, Small and Medium

Khaite does not publish measurements in its product copy, so the sizes are best understood by proportion and by what comes with each one.

Size Proportion Closure and lining Extras Coveti price
Nano Petite, elongated by fringe Interior toggle Fringe only Not currently stocked
Mini Petite yet elongated, keeps the rounded base Gold chain toggle, nappa lining on leather and suede None $1,940 to $4,370
Small The everyday size Jewellery-like toggle None $3,750 to $4,490
Medium The largest Lotus Internal tie on natural raffia Removable pouch $2,530 to $5,400

The Mini Lotus

The Mini preserves the rounded base of the original in petite but elegantly elongated proportions. It closes with a gold chain toggle and leather versions are lined in soft nappa. It is the most varied size at Coveti: the Mini Lotus Tote in Black Pebbled Leather is $3,020, the Mini Lotus Tote in Cedar Suede is $3,630, the Mini Lotus Tote in Python-Embossed Taupe and Morning Dove is $3,340, and the Mini Lotus Tote in Golden Olive Suede is $4,220.

The Small Lotus

The Small is the size to buy first. It keeps the full shape of the Lotus, with the rounded base for stability and a jewellery-like toggle inside, and it is big enough for a working day without turning into a carryall. The Small Lotus Tote in Black Pebbled Leather is $3,750, the Small Lotus Tote in Cloud Iris Suede is $4,370, and the Small Lotus Tote in Natural and Black Distressed Leather is $4,490.

The Medium Lotus

The Medium is the largest Lotus and the one built as a true tote. Leather and suede versions come with a removable leather pouch and a dust bag, so small items do not disappear into the base. The Medium Lotus Tote in Black Pebbled Leather is $4,370 and the Medium Lotus Tote in Black Suede is $5,400.

Which leathers does the Lotus come in?

For a first Lotus, black pebbled leather is the safest choice: it suits every season and hides wear. Suede is the more Khaite choice, softer to the touch and richer in colour, but it asks for more care.

The Khaite Lotus raffia bag

Raffia is where the Lotus becomes a summer bag. Two versions are at Coveti. The Medium Lotus Tote in Natural Raffia at $2,530 is crafted in Italy from sustainably harvested raffia. It is free of hardware, closes with an internal tie and keeps the rounded base. The black and white raffia is handwoven for a high-contrast texture that Khaite compares to marled knitwear. The Medium Lotus Tote in Black and White Raffia is $2,870 and includes a removable zip-top pouch, and the Mini Lotus Tote in Black and White Raffia is $1,940, the lowest price for any Khaite bag at Coveti.

The Khaite Lotus fringe tote

For Pre-Fall 2026, Khaite made the Lotus with fringe in two sizes, the Nano Lotus Fringe Tote and the Small Lotus Fringe Tote, in mud suede and black. The fringe is placed to fall in a natural line, lie flat and move as the bag moves, and the bags are crafted in Italy with the usual rounded base and interior toggle. Neither fringe size is currently available on khaite.com, and Coveti does not stock them at the time of writing.
