Marmar Halim Gowns: The Complete Guide to the House, Its Shapes and Prices
Marmar Halim Gowns: The Complete Guide to the House, Its Shapes and Prices
Marmar Halim gowns are floor-length couture eveningwear made to order in Dubai, and Coveti carries 204 of them, from $1,090 to $19,450. Marmar Halim is the couture eveningwear house of the Egyptian designer of the same name, founded in Dubai in 2012 and run from its own showroom in Dubai Design District. Almost everything the house makes is a long gown for a black-tie night, a wedding and the red carpet; a handful of tops, skirts, capes and jackets sit around them. This guide explains the shapes the house returns to, the cloths it cuts them in, what they cost, and how to choose one.

What makes a Marmar Halim gown
Three things recur across the collection. The first is pleating: the house pleats silk chiffon, georgette, taffeta and satin by hand, and a pleated gown is the piece most people picture when they search the name. The second is the cape. 34 of the gowns on Coveti come with one, attached at the shoulder, falling from the back, and in several cases detachable, so the same dress works for the ceremony and the dance floor. The third is wire: fine wire is sewn into necklines and hems to hold a sculpted outline, which is why so many names carry the words “wire outline” and “wiring”. Our pleated gowns guide and our capes guide go deeper on the first two.
The shapes
The house cuts a short list of silhouettes and varies them through cloth and colour. The strapless column is the most common, with 71 on Coveti. The fishtail, fitted to the knee and then released, runs to 22 pieces and suits taffeta best, because the cloth holds the flare. One-shoulder gowns usually pair a single strap with a sash and a cape. Off-shoulder gowns lean on wired necklines, and the high-neck, long-sleeved pieces answer the modest brief. Each shape has its own guide: off-shoulder dresses, modest gowns and one-shoulder evening gowns.
The cloths
Taffeta and silk lead. Coveti carries 42 Marmar Halim pieces with taffeta in the name, 40 in chiffon, georgette and roseya (the house name for a light silk crepe), and 24 in crepe. The house sometimes calls a pleated polyester plisse “silk” in the product title, so we print the brand’s own composition line on every product page; read it before you buy if fibre matters to you. Embellished pieces use hand embroidery, stone and crystal work, sequins and metallic brocade, and they sit at the top of the price range.
Prices
The gowns run from $1,090 to $19,450 at Coveti. Crepe columns and simple pleated slips sit at the lower end; hand-pleated chiffon with capes, two-tone pieces and anything fully embroidered sit at the top. Our price guide breaks the range down, and the colour guides group the gowns the way most people shop them: red, black, blue, pink, purple, gold, yellow and white.
How to choose one
Start with the dress code and the room. A taffeta fishtail and a beaded column read best at a formal gala; hand-pleated chiffon and georgette move better at an outdoor wedding in the heat. Then decide whether you want a cape: it photographs beautifully and covers the shoulders for a religious ceremony, and on the detachable styles it comes off for dinner. Finally, allow time. Marmar Halim makes every piece to order, and the brand says delivery usually takes four to six weeks, sometimes longer, so order at least two months ahead. For dress codes, see black-tie gowns and what to wear to a gala dinner.
