About Dôen
Dôen was founded by Santa Barbara-born sisters Margaret and Katherine Kleveland together with a collective of Los Angeles women, all of them equity owners, and launched in 2016. It is a women-run business. The clothes draw on the coastal California of the sisters’ childhood, its oak groves and soft ocean colours, and turn up as voile blouses and smocked dresses. Much of the range is cut in organic cotton and silk. In 2020 the company made one of its long-standing factory partners an equity owner as well, so the people who sew the clothes share in the business. The Dôen Heirloom pieces borrow from Edwardian lawn dresses and corset covers, and the label calls its returning best sellers Favorite Characters.
