Schiaparelli Ready-to-Wear: Clothing, Fit and the Pieces Worth Buying (2026)
Schiaparelli ready-to-wear is the house’s off-the-rail clothing line: dresses, knitwear, jackets, shirts and denim made in Italy and sold in standard sizes, separate from the haute couture shown in Paris each January and July. It carries the same codes as the couture, the Keyhole, trompe l’oeil, gilded anatomical details and the Measuring Tape, at a fraction of a couture price. Key facts about Schiaparelli clothing
- Made in: Italy. The haute couture is made in the Paris ateliers at 21 Place Vendôme.
- Creative director: Daniel Roseberry, appointed in April 2019.
- Sizing at Coveti: UK 4 to UK 16, converted from the house’s French sizes.
- Seasons: two main collections a year, Spring Summer and Autumn Winter, plus permanent Iconic pieces.
- Haute couture status: Schiaparelli received the official Haute Couture label in 2017.
Ready-to-wear against haute couture
Couture is made to measure for one client, fitted in Paris, and priced on request. Ready-to-wear is cut to a size chart, produced in Italy and bought off the rail. The design language is shared, which is why a Knitted Keyhole Dress can carry the same Keyhole that appears on a couture gown. Our price guide sets out what each category costs.
Knitwear: the house’s first language
Schiaparelli began in knitwear. In 1927 Elsa Schiaparelli knitted a black and white sweater with a trompe l’oeil bow, and the attention it drew founded the house. Knitwear is still the most accessible way in.
- Keyhole Tank Top in Black and Keyhole Tank Top in White: ribbed cotton with the Keyhole cut out at the front and a gold Keyhole rivet at the back.
- Slither Hoodie: slim black viscose knit with a trompe l’oeil scale pattern and a gradient white stripe down the centre.
- Trompe L’Oeil Cardigan and Trompe L’Oeil Hand Cardigan: the 1927 idea, updated.
Dresses
The dresses are where Roseberry’s sculpture shows most. The Doodle Dress is a form fitting nude rib knit in wool and cashmere with an openwork front, leather trimmed ruffles and gold snaps. For evening, the Keyhole Dress in Mesh and the Trompe L’Oeil Bust Dress are the statement pieces.
Jackets and tailoring
Schiaparelli tailoring is cut with a strong shoulder and a defined waist. The Iconic Measuring Tape Jacket is the permanent piece to know, and the Dove-Wing Cropped Jacket brings the Dove motif into a short jacket.
How Schiaparelli ready-to-wear fits
The house publishes no instruction to size up, so start with your usual size. Knits are cut close to the body; tailoring is structured through the shoulder, so if you sit between sizes choose by the shoulder and have the waist taken in. Caring for Schiaparelli ready-to-wear
Dry clean structured tailoring and anything with gilded hardware, and remove brooches before cleaning. Fold knitwear rather than hanging it so the rib keeps its shape, and store pieces with metal Keyholes and snaps in a breathable bag so the plating is not scratched by neighbouring garments.
