What is the Aje Anais Slide?

The Anais Slide is the one to know first. It is the only Aje shoe on Coveti in five colourways, it is part of Aje’s Core collection, and it is the only style in the footwear range that runs to EU 42. The upper is recycled nylon, the sole is leather, the toe is square and there is an Aje logo detail on the strap.

The colourways split into four two-tone versions and one solid:

• Anais Slide in Black and Natural, the most neutral of the set.
• Anais Slide in Tan and Natural, the summer tan.
• Anais Slide in Olive and Natural, the only green shoe in the range.
• Anais Slide in Chestnut and Natural, a warmer brown.

Because the upper is nylon, the Anais reads more casual than the leather slides. It is the pair for walking days, market mornings and travel, and it sits well under the linen and cotton pieces of Aje Studio.

What are Aje’s gathered slides?

Gathering is Aje’s most recognisable footwear detail, and three slide families use it. They are all 100% leather and all come in Black and Ivory, which makes them easy to pair with the gathered heels of the same names.

The Solana Gathered Slide has a gathered upper, a hardware detail and a padded leather insole. The Clemence Slide shares its name and gathered upper with the Clemence Gathered Heel, and adds an Aje hardware feature. The Cezanne Slide has gathered detailing, a hardware detail and a padded leather insole, and shares its name with Aje’s Cezanne clutch. Which Aje slides are flat and which are stacked?

Most of the range is flat. The one stacked option is the Alina Stacked Slide in Black, which Aje describes as a chunky slide. It shares its organic hardware, shaped footbed and slip-on build with the flat Alina Slide in Beach Beige. Both have 100% leather uppers and linings and 100% rubber soles. The choice is simple: the flat Alina for a quiet slide under a long skirt, the stacked Alina when you want the shoe to have weight under wide trousers and denim.

If you want height without a heel, there is also the Alina Wedge Mule in Chocolate. It is technically a heel (Aje lists it at 9 cm) but it shares the Alina’s organic gold ring hardware and padded leather insole, so it reads as the evening member of the Alina family.

Which Aje slides have statement hardware?

Three slides are built around a single piece of hardware.

• Zanthe Slide: Amber Croc embossed leather with a western buckle and a shaped footbed. The upper, lining and sole are all 100% leather. It shares its Amber Croc finish and western buckle with the 9 cm Zanthe Open Toe Heel Mule.
• Macy Buckle Slide: Chocolate leather with a square toe, a leather lining and an oval Aje buckle. It shares a name with the Macy baguette bag and the Macy Ballet Flat.
• Clara Slide: Chestnut leather with organic square hardware, the same hardware as the Clara Heel.

What are Aje sandals like?

All four Aje sandals are chunky and adjustable, which sets them apart from the slip-on slides. Shop them in designer sandals.

The Spencer Buckle Sandal is 100% leather in a croc-embossed finish, with a chunky design, an adjustable fit and western buckle hardware. It comes in Amber Croc and Black Croc. The croc is an embossed leather finish; Aje does not use exotic skins.

The Renata Sandal has double western buckle hardware and an adjustable fit with a Velcro back strap. The upper is 100% leather, the lining 100% PU and the sole 100% rubber. It comes in Black and Antique Rose, the only pink in the footwear range.

What colours do Aje slides and sandals come in?

The colour range is built on neutrals that match Aje’s leather bags. Black appears across six of the ten families (Anais, Solana, Clemence, Cezanne, Alina Stacked and Renata, plus Black Croc on the Spencer). Ivory runs through the three gathered slides. The warm browns are Chocolate (Anais, Macy Buckle), Chestnut (Anais, Clara), Tan (Anais) and Beach Beige (Alina). The outliers are Olive on the Anais, Antique Rose on the Renata and the two croc-embossed finishes, Amber Croc and Black Croc.
