Buying Guide, What to wear

Casablanca Swimwear: Swimsuits, Bikinis, Pareos and Pool Slides

0
The short answer. Casablanca swimsuits and bikinis are made in Portugal in 78% polyester and 22% elastane, printed with the house monogram, gradients and painted artworks. They follow the womenswear size chart with a hip measurement added, and bikini tops and bottoms are sold separately. The cotton pareos are made in Italy and the terry and towelling slides in Portugal.

Casablanca was built for the pool as much as the tennis court. Charaf Tajer calls the house style après-sport, and a lot of what that means in practice is a printed swimsuit, a silk shirt left open over it and a towelling short for the walk to lunch. Here is the current swimwear and everything around it.

Casablanca swimsuits

The one-pieces are scoop-necked and cut high on the leg, with a printed diamond logo at the chest. The prints are the point:

Casablanca bikinis

The bikinis are string triangle tops and tie-side bottoms, sold separately so you can buy two sizes. The Degrade Monogram Bikini Top pairs with the Degrade Monogram Bikini Bottom, and the Green Wavy Monogram Bikini Top with the Green Wavy Monogram Bikini Bottom.

How Casablanca swimwear fits

Swimwear uses the womenswear letters with a hip measurement added: an S is a UK 8 with an 84cm chest, a 68cm waist and a 94cm hip, and an M is a UK 10 with 88, 72 and 98cm. Check the hip column before you order a one-piece; the full chart is in the Casablanca size guide.

The pareo

A pareo is a large square of fabric tied as a sarong at the hip, knotted as a skirt and thrown over the shoulders as a wrap. Casablanca’s are 100% cotton, made in Italy: the Degrade Monogram Black Pareo and the White Degrade Monogram Pareo. Tie it at the hip over a matching swimsuit for lunch, then shake it out as a towel.

What to wear over it

The house answer is a silk shirt, and it is the right one. The Degrade Monogram Long Sleeve Silk Shirt and the Degrade Monogram Silk Trousers match the swimsuit print, and the Black and Lime Degrade Monogram Silk Kaftan does both jobs in one piece. For something easier, the towelling sets, the White Waves Monogram Towelling Zip-Up Hooded Sweatshirt and White Waves Monogram Towelling Shorts, are made for the hour after a swim.

Slides, hats and bags

The terry slides are embroidered with the laurel artwork: Green Laurel Terry Slides, White Laurel Terry Slides and Black Laurel Terry Slides, all made in Portugal. The White Monogram Pool Slides are in monogram towelling. Add a crochet hat and a crochet bag from the caps and hats guide and the bags guide, and a pair from the sunglasses guide.

Caring for Casablanca swimwear

Rinse each piece in cold water after chlorine and salt, then dry it flat in the shade. Heat and sun break the stretch down far faster than wear does. Never wring a printed swimsuit.
