The Lion 2.0 and the Lioness 2.0 are the Anna-Karin Karlsson frames with a gold lion’s head on the brow, its eyes set by hand with emeralds and with pink and black sapphires, on an acetate front under a 24K gold-plated titanium top bar. The house calls them “a tribute to the urban royals heading to the boulevard of dreams”. The Lion is the square; the Lioness is the cat-eye. Lion against Lioness

The lion’s head, the gold top bar and the acetate are the same; the front shape is not. The Lion 2.0 is a square, broad and level, and reads as a men’s frame in Black. The Lioness 2.0 lifts at the outer corners into a cat-eye and reads as an evening frame. Both are 159 to 162 mm across, so both suit a broad face and sit as a deliberate oversized statement on a narrow one.

The eyes

This is the detail that separates the frames from a logo plaque: the lion’s eyes are real stones, set by hand. The house lists emerald on the Black Gold colourways, black sapphire on the Lion in Black and pink sapphire on the Lioness in White.
