Anna-Karin Karlsson round sunglasses: every round and oval frame

Round is the Anna-Karin Karlsson shape with the most frames behind it: the two panthers, the rimmed and rimless Claw rounds, the crystal-rimmed Full Moon and Magic You, the oversized La Vie en Rose and Shade of Sirens, and the ovals, Claw Aventure and Billion $ Boo. 31 colourways at Coveti from $2,090 to $3,560. This page sorts them from the lightest rimless titanium to the biggest acetate, and says which face each suits, because a round frame on a round face is the one mistake this shape allows.

“Rooted in Anna-Karin’s childhood memories and from the bond she shared with her beloved budgies. Perched gently on her hand, they would curl their delicate claws around her finger, a tender yet powerful gesture that left a lasting imprint,” the house writes of the Claw designs on its product pages.

  • A round frame softens a square jaw and suits an oval face; it repeats the curve of a round face

The titanium rounds

The Claw and the Nest Round is the purest: two round lenses held by the claw temples and nothing else, 41 g, and the widest frame in the house at 162 mm. The Claw and the Moon adds a full rim. Full Moon adds a lower rim of Preciosa crystals so the frame reads as jewellery, at 37 g.

The acetate rounds

The panthers, Rose et le Rêve and Rose et la Roue, with the crystal panther on the right lens; La Vie en Rose, a three-dimensionally curved oversized front with art-deco shell details in nine colourways; and Shade of Sirens, carved from a thick slab into a rippled shell with its matching case.

The ovals

Claw Aventure is a slim titanium oval on the claw temples, small enough for a meeting and precious enough for dinner. Billion $ Boo is a steel oval ringed in Swarovski crystals, the frame Winnie Harlow danced in.

Which face

A square jaw wants a round frame; so does a long face, where an oversized round adds width. A round face wants the ovals instead, which add length, and the cat-eyes and rectangles on their own pages.
