Anna-Karin Karlsson size and fit guide: every frame by width

Anna-Karin Karlsson frames are one size, so “what size am I” has a different answer here than for a coat: the fit is the total width of the frame across the front, which the house publishes for every style and Coveti prints in the size and fit line of every listing. This guide explains the three numbers on the temple, gives the width of every current style, says which class each falls in, and covers the prescription question, because every one of these frames can be an optical.

“Yes, all of our frames can be fitted with prescription lenses. Please note that the prescription range may vary between different frame styles,” the house answers on its Contact page.

Key facts

  • Every frame is one size; the house does not offer small and large
  • The three numbers on the temple are lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres (56-18-145 on the Claw Voyage)
  • Total width across the front runs from 126 mm (Claw Plume) to 162 mm (The Claw and the Nest Round, Lion 2.0)
  • Coveti’s fit classes: under 136 mm narrow, 136 to 145 mm medium, 146 to 155 mm wide, over 155 mm oversized
  • Weights from 23 g (Crystal Nest Triangle) to 128 g (Starry Sky)
  • Every frame takes prescription lenses through a licensed optician; the range varies by style

How to read the numbers

The house prints lens, bridge and temple in millimetres, the way an optician does. Lens width is one lens across; bridge is the gap over the nose; temple is the arm from hinge to tip. The number that decides the fit is the total width across the front, which the house also publishes and which Coveti uses for its four classes. Measure a pair you own across the front, outer edge to outer edge, and compare.

Narrow faces

The Claw Plume, Too Handsome Sun are the frames under 136 mm. The Claw Plume Sunglasses in Black White Diamond Edition is the narrowest.

Broad faces and the oversized frames

The frames over 155 mm, Lion 2.0, Lioness 2.0, are built to sit big on the face and suit a broad face best; on a narrow face they read as a deliberate oversized statement, which is how the house shows them.

Prescription

The house confirms that every frame can be fitted with prescription lenses and that the range varies between styles. The rimmed titanium and acetate frames take the widest range; the rimless Claw and the Nest, the Crystal Nest and the diamond-cut Crystal Meringue need an optician’s judgement on the prescription strength. The prescription page goes through it.
