What fits in each

The Mini Amelot takes a phone, a Cléry wallet, keys, lipstick and sunglasses in a slim case. The back pocket is the place for the phone. The Amelot takes all of that plus a small tablet, a water bottle, a folded cardigan and a paperback, and the zipped inside pocket keeps keys away from the phone screen. Neither takes a laptop; for that, see the Sévigné.

How each wears

At 520 g with a strap that goes to 120 cm, the Mini Amelot is a true crossbody bag that sits on the hip, and it is light enough to forget about. The Amelot’s 90 cm maximum puts it on the shoulder and short across the body, and at about 1 kg empty it is a bag you notice by the end of a long day; it is the trade for the space. Both have studs underneath, so you can put them on a floor without worrying about the base.

Gold Edition and Silver Edition

Both bags come with the house’s plaque and metal details in gold, and now in silver on black pebble calf: the Mini Amelot Silver Edition and the Amelot Silver Edition, at the same price as the gold. Our silver hardware guide explains how to choose.

The verdict

Most people who are torn should buy the Mini Amelot. It is lighter, it is a better crossbody bag, and the back pocket makes it quick to use. The Amelot is the better single bag if you carry a lot and want one soft shoulder bag for every day; at that point it is worth weighing against the Sévigné tote. Read the full Amelot review for how the suede and pebble leathers wear.

“Leather is a noble material, but it can easily become predictable,” Xavier Valembert told Style Essentials in March 2026. “For us, leather should not only look beautiful, it should age with dignity.”

Sources and method

Checked on 13 October 2026 by Gemma Deeks, fashion editor at Coveti. Product facts, the dimensions, handle drops, weights, leathers, linings and country of manufacture, are the brand’s own product-page text; prices and price ranges are Coveti’s live catalogue on that date and move with stock; the founders’ story comes from the brand’s own pages and the two interviews listed below, each read on the date above. The founding year is given two ways in the sources and the page says so. Where a claim could not be checked against one of these it was left out, and where the fitting room is giving its own advice the page says so.
