Why silver hardware is back

For most of the last decade, luxury bags came with gold hardware by default. Silver has been creeping back as wardrobes have turned grey, black and navy, and as more people wear white metal jewellery and steel watches. The new Amelot Silver Editions

The Amelot Silver Edition is the house’s soft everyday bag in black pebble calf, 23 x 30 x 15 cm, with a zipped pocket inside, a large back pocket, a leather strap adjustable from 60 to 90 cm for shoulder and short crossbody wear and four protective metal studs underneath, at about 1 kg (brand page). The Mini Amelot Silver Edition is the compact version, 18 x 22 x 8 cm, 520 g, with an outside back pocket and a strap from 100 to 120 cm long enough to wear crossbody (brand page). Caring for silver hardware

Silver-tone hardware shows fingerprints more than gold. Wipe the plaque with a dry soft cloth; avoid metal polish near the leather. The brand’s own care advice is to keep bags away from heat and prolonged damp and stored in their dust bag (care page).
