Erdem Size Guide: Does Erdem Run Small? UK, US, EU and IT Conversions
Erdem Size Guide: Does Erdem Run Small? UK, US, EU and IT Conversions
Erdem does not run small as a rule. The London label uses UK sizing (UK 4 to 22 on erdem.com), and most of its product pages say “Fits true to size”. A UK 8 is a US 4, EU 36 and IT 40. The exceptions are corseted bodices, some duchess gowns and denim, which Erdem marks small, and oversized coats, which it says to size down in.
Key facts
- Erdem’s FAQ states that erdem.com follows UK sizing, and that each product page has a size chart with product-specific measurements.
- Erdem ready-to-wear runs from UK 4 to UK 22 on its own site. Coveti stocks Erdem in UK 4 to UK 18.
- UK 8 = US 4 = EU 36 = IT 40. UK 10 = US 6 = EU 38 = IT 42. UK 12 = US 8 = EU 40 = IT 44.
- In a review of 259 Erdem fit notes from recent seasons, about three in four read “Fits true to size”.
- About one in seven notes advise sizing down, almost all on oversized coats, jackets and shirts.
- About one in twelve say a style runs small, describe a slim cut, and advise sizing up. These are mostly bustier tops, corseted dresses, some gowns and denim.
- Knitwear is sold in letter sizes (XS to XL on most styles), and Erdem belts in S, M, L and XL.
Does Erdem run small?
For most pieces, no. Erdem Moralioglu founded the label in London in 2005, and the house cuts to a standard UK block. When I went through 259 fit notes in Erdem’s own product copy across recent collections, including Pre-Spring 2026, Pre Fall 2026 and Autumn Winter 2026, 201 of them said “Fits true to size”, sometimes with a qualifier such as “loose fit at skirt” and “slim fit at bodice”.
The honest answer is that Erdem gives fit advice style by style, and a small minority of styles do run small. Twelve notes say so directly, with wording such as “Runs small”, “Fits small to size” and “Fits small to size at bust”. Nine more describe a slim cut and recommend sizing up for a looser fit. These cluster in three places: structured bodices (the Floral Print Duchess Bra Top and Floral Print Textured Satin Bodice Top are both marked “Runs small”), a few duchess and voile gowns, and denim midi skirts and dresses.
So my rule is to take your usual UK size, then read the fit note on the exact piece. If there is no note, assume true to size.
Erdem size conversion chart
Erdem labels clothing in UK sizes. This table converts them to US, EU (French) and Italian sizing using the standard womenswear conversion that Coveti applies across the brand.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 0 | 32 | 36 | Yes |
| 6 | 2 | 34 | 38 | Yes |
| 8 | 4 | 36 | 40 | Yes |
| 10 | 6 | 38 | 42 | Yes |
| 12 | 8 | 40 | 44 | Yes |
| 14 | 10 | 42 | 46 | Yes |
| 16 | 12 | 44 | 48 | Yes |

| 20 | 16 | 48 | 52 | Erdem only |
| 22 | 18 | 50 | 54 | Erdem only |
Not every style is cut in every size. Some gowns stop at UK 14 and UK 16, so the Floral Duchess Bustier Gown ($6,440) is made in UK 4 to 14, while the Floral Stretch Cady Draped Midi Dress ($3,080) goes up to UK 22 at Erdem.

How do Erdem dresses fit?
Dresses are where Erdem is most consistent. The large majority of midi dress notes read “Fits true to size”, and the qualifiers tell you where the ease is. The Embellished Sable Short Sleeve Midi Dress, for example, “fits true to size on bodice with a loose fit on sleeves and skirt”. The Floral Print Crepe Long Sleeve Midi Dress is “loose at waist and sleeves”. You can browse every current style in our edit of designer midi dresses, and our pick of the best Erdem dresses covers the shapes that suit different frames.
Pencil silhouettes
Erdem’s pencil dresses and gowns are cut close through the hip and knee. The Floral Duchess Midi Pencil Dress ($4,390) is marked “Fits true to size”, and the Embroidered Mikado Pencil Gown ($5,100) the same. Duchess satin and mikado are firm, structured cloths with little give, so the hip measurement matters more here than the bust. If your hips sit a size above your bust, buy for the hips and have the bodice taken in.
Draped silhouettes
Draped styles are the most forgiving shape Erdem makes, and the notes reflect that. The Floral Stretch Cady Draped Midi Dress is “Fits true to size”. For draped satin gowns, Erdem adds “If in between sizes, recommend sizing up”, as on the Embellished Satin Cady Draped Gown, and the Embellished Textured Satin Draped Gown is described as slim. The Floral Textured Satin Draped Midi Dress ($4,200) is a good example of the shape.
Bustier and corseted silhouettes
This is the one area where I would size up when between sizes. Erdem’s notes on bodice pieces are explicit: the Floral Print Textured Satin Bodice Top “Runs small”, the Embroidered Textured Satin Sleeveless Gown “runs small at bodice”, and the Embroidered Cotton Faille Sleeveless Midi Dress “Fits small to size at bust”. Corseted dresses carry notes such as “Fitted internal corset” and “Internal corset has close fit”. A boned bodice cannot stretch to fit, so buy for your bust measurement and let a tailor adjust the waist.
Evening gowns
Gowns follow the dress rules above, depending on the silhouette. Two to note: the Floral Print Duchess Gown “Runs small to size”, and the Draped Floral Print Silk Voile Gown “Fits small to size”. Length is the other variable. Erdem’s models are tall, so a floor-length gown on a 178cm model will pool on a shorter frame. See every current style in evening gowns, and read our Erdem wedding guest and bridal guide for occasion picks.
How is Erdem knitwear sized?
Erdem knitwear uses letter sizes, XS to XL on most styles, and the notes are almost always “Fits true to size”. The Cashmere Crew Neck Cardigan ($1,970) runs XS to XL and is marked true to size. Knit dresses are the exception that needs care: the Jacquard Long Sleeve Midi Knit Dress ($2,340) is “Fits true to size. If in between sizes, recommend sizing up.”
Erdem does not print a letter to UK conversion in the fit notes, but its model notes give a useful anchor. On Erdem’s own pages, models of 5’10” (178cm) wear UK 8 in dresses and size S in knitwear. If you are a UK 8 in Erdem dresses, S is the place to start. Some outerwear also uses letter sizes: the Floral Cotton Trench Coat ($4,760) is made in XS to L and “Fits oversized, recommend sizing down from your usual size for a closer fit”. Browse the full designer knitwear edit for more.
How are Erdem belts sized?
Erdem belts come in S, M, L and XL. That applies to the Wide Leather Belt ($840), a 5cm wide black leather belt made in Italy, the Double Wrap Belt ($710) in smooth black leather, and the Narrow Bow Belt in Black Satin ($750). Erdem does not state centimetre lengths for each letter in its product copy, so measure where you will wear the belt (high waist and hip give different numbers) and check the size chart on the product page. As a starting point, take the same letter you wear in Erdem knitwear.
What size is the Erdem model wearing?
Most Erdem product pages close the fit note with a line such as “Model is 5’10” (178cm) and wears size UK 8.” The heights in Erdem’s copy range from 5’9″ (175cm) to 5’11 1/2″ (181cm), and the dress size is almost always UK 8, with UK 6 on a few pieces. In knitwear the same line reads “wears size S”.
Use it as a proportion check, not a size recommendation. If you are 165cm and a UK 8, a midi that hits mid-calf on the model will fall closer to the ankle on you, and a gown will need hemming.
Runway pieces and Atelier Notes
Some Erdem pieces are sold from the runway before production. Erdem’s FAQ says these pieces “may undergo slight modifications during production”, and that pre-order items have no item-specific measurements yet. On the product page this shows up as an Atelier Note. Examples from Autumn Winter 2026 read “the embellishment featured is a preliminary design and will be subtly adjusted for the final garment”, and two Spring Summer 2027 notes say “the skirt length will increase by 6cm”. Read these before you choose a size for a gown with a set hem.
How to measure yourself for Erdem
Erdem’s size charts are product specific, so your own measurements in centimetres are the most reliable tool. Use a soft tape, wear thin underwear, and keep the tape level.
- Bust: around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
- Waist: around the narrowest point, usually just above the navel.
- Hip: around the fullest part of the seat, feet together.
- Height and hem: for gowns, measure from the hollow of your neck to the floor in the shoes you plan to wear.
- Belt: measure exactly where the belt will sit, over the clothes you will wear with it.
Then match the measurement that matters most for the silhouette: bust for bustier and corseted pieces, hip for pencil shapes, and bust and shoulders for coats.

Most Erdem clothing fits true to size, and that is the note on about three in four of its product pages.
