Magda Butrym bags: every family, from the Brigitte to the crochet tote

Magda Butrym came to bags the way it came to everything: through the rose. The first pieces were satin pouches with a silk flower and a pearl handle, then the crochet nets, and by 2024 the house had a proper leather line with the Brigitte at its centre, made in Italy with a detachable flower charm swinging from the handle. Today there are nine families. The Brigitte in five sizes, the Varsovia named for Warsaw, the compact Barbara, the soft Maya, the mini Julia, the boxy Apolonia, the Devana and pearl Magda evening pieces and the summer crochet totes. 60 bags on Coveti, $1,510 to $5,430, median $3,500. The Brigitte, the house bag

A structured top-handle in calf leather, suede and croco-embossed leather with a detachable flower charm, made in Italy. The regular is 33 cm wide, 19 high and 13 deep; the large is 47 by 25 by 17; the travel is 60 by 37 by 17 and canvas lined; the square is 18 by 14.5; the trapeze is a 35 cm shoulder shape 10 cm high with a 17 cm drop. The Varsovia and the Barbara

The Varsovia is the day bag named for Warsaw: 36 cm wide, 20 high and 19.5 deep, with top handles and a detachable 82 cm crossbody strap, in calf leather and suede. The Barbara is the compact top-handle: 21.5 by 15 by 8.5 with a 13 cm handle drop, in calf leather and croco-embossed leather. Varsovia and Barbara have their own pages.

The Maya, the Julia and the Apolonia

The Maya is the soft shoulder bag, 44 cm wide and 22 high with a slim 6 cm base, in leather and suede, and it also comes as an open crochet basket. The Julia is the mini: 17 by 17 by 9 with slender 15 cm handles, a galleried interior and a rose charm, in satin, nubuck, lamb leather and crochet. The evening pieces

The Devana is a crochet net with a silk rose and a leather base, in small and medium; the pearl Magda bag is a satin pouch on a pearl handle, in black and cream; the bracelet bag is a 20 by 15 cm satin trapeze on a metal bracelet. Which bag for what

Work: the Varsovia and the large Brigitte, both take a 13-inch laptop by the brand’s dimensions. Every day: the regular Brigitte, the Barbara and the Maya. Evening: the Julia, the Apolonia, the pearl Magda and the bracelet bags. Holiday: a crochet tote and a Devana. Travel: the travel Brigitte.

Care
