Magda Butrym Podhale embroidery: the highland craft on pumps, mules and the Apolonia

For autumn winter 2026 Magda Butrym took embroidery from the Polish highlands and put it on leather: a pointed pump, a high-heel mule and the Apolonia bag. The brand calls it Podhale-style embroidery, inspired by traditional Polish craftsmanship, and it is the clearest example yet of the house drawing on Polish folk craft, as FashionUnited put it, Slavic heritage and Polish craftsmanship. 5 Podhale-style pieces on Coveti, $1,710 to $4,550, median $1,710. This page explains where the embroidery comes from and what it is on. Shop the Magda Butrym collection at Coveti, then read Who is Magda Butrym?.

What Podhale is

Podhale, literally the land below the mountain pastures, is Poland’s southernmost region, in the foothills of the Tatra range of the Carpathians. Its highland communities, the Gorale, have their own dialect and traditions; the brand names the region and its craft as the reference, not a specific garment. The Wikipedia entry has the geography.

The pumps

The Podhale-style embroidered pointed pumps have a sharply pointed toe, a sculpted curved heel of 11.5 cm and the embroidery worked across the upper, in black and brown leather: calf leather upper and insole on a nappa sole. They are the most formal shoe the house makes this season.

The mules

The high-heel mules take the same embroidery on a wide leather upper with an open toe and the same 11.5 cm sculptural heel, in black and brown. The mules page has the kitten heel and flat mules beside them.

The Apolonia

The house’s boxy pochette with a top handle, 23 cm wide, in black leather with the embroidery on the front and a detachable flower charm at the handle. The Apolonia page has the plain leather and suede versions.

Sizing

The shoes run EU 35 to 41.5 with half sizes at the brand; Coveti lists whole sizes EU 35 to 42 (UK 2 to 9), and the brand states no fit on the boots, only that customer care will advise. At 11.5 cm these are the highest heels in the collection; the brand does not state a fit, so take your usual size and add a half size in the order notes if you need it. The shoe size guide converts.

How to wear them

With plain black: a pencil skirt and a fine knit, a black slip dress, a tailored trouser. The embroidery is the decoration, so the clothes should not compete. The black dress page has the dresses.
