Why Magda Butrym denim fits differently

Rigid cotton holds a cut line instead of stretching to the body, so the house can give jeans the same shaped waist and straight drop it gives its wool trousers. Expect the first wears to feel firm at the waistband; rigid denim gives about half a size through the seat and thigh as it softens, but it does not lengthen. Buy the waist that closes comfortably, not one size down.

The jeans

The mid-waist straight-leg jean is the core shape: it sits at the natural waist and falls straight to the ankle, in blue, dark blue, cream and a Pre-Fall brown. The cropped straight-leg version stops above the ankle bone, which is the length for a kitten heel and a ballet flat. The low-rise capri, with a touch of elastane, is the one summer shape. The heeled ballet flats are the shoe the cropped pair was cut for.

The denim mini dress with a sculpted flower

The house took its signature fabric flower, the one that sits on the shoulder of its silk dresses, and put it on denim. The autumn winter 2026 version has short sleeves and comes in blue and cream; the Pre-Fall version is off the shoulder. It is the piece that makes denim read as Magda Butrym from across a room. The jackets and the top

The classic denim jacket is a straight, hip-length shape; the belted denim jacket ties at the waist like the house leather jackets; the fitted peplum jacket flares below a nipped waist. The asymmetric sleeveless top is cut on a diagonal across the shoulder and goes with the matching jeans for a denim suit, and alone over a black pencil skirt.

Washing and care

Turn the denim inside out, wash cold on a gentle cycle with a colour detergent, and dry flat in shape; never tumble dry rigid cotton, which shrinks it and sets creases. Cream denim marks easily: treat a spot at once and keep it away from new blue denim and dark leather bags, which transfer dye.
