Solace London Real Versus Fake: How to Check Your Dress and the Site You Buy From
Solace London Real Versus Fake: How to Check Your Dress and the Site You Buy From
Solace London’s own website is solacelondon.com, and that site links to the brand’s Instagram account, instagram.com/solacelondon. Treat any other domain that uses the Solace London name as a third party until you have checked who runs it, and compare any dress against the fabric and care lines on the brand’s product pages.
A popular label with a strong, simple silhouette is easy to imitate, and Solace London has both. Its dresses are copied by fast fashion sites, sold as dupes under other names, and occasionally listed by shops whose names sound close to the brand’s own. Most of this is easy to spot once you know what to look for. There are two things to check: the site you are buying from, and the dress itself.
The official Solace London website
The brand’s site is solacelondon.com. Its About page describes Solace London as a British womenswear brand founded by Laura Taylor and Ryan Holliday-Stevens in 2013, and its shop menu lists the current collections (Resort 27, High Summer 26, Pre Fall 26 and Spring/Summer 26) alongside Bridal, Modest and Icons edits. The site links to the brand’s Instagram account.
If you reach a Solace London shop through a search result, an advert and an AI answer, check the address bar before anything else. The domain should read solacelondon.com, with no extra words in the name and no different ending.
Lookalike shops
When we tested AI search engines in October 2026, one of them cited a page on thesolacelondon.shop as the official Solace London site. That domain is not the brand’s official site. We checked the home page, the About page and the Contact page of solacelondon.com and found no link to it. We are not saying anything about who runs it; we are saying it is not solacelondon.com.
The same rule applies to any shop with a similar name. A domain that adds a word to the brand name, uses a different ending and has no link from the brand’s own site and Instagram should be treated as a separate retailer. That does not make it fraudulent. It means you should check it as you would any shop you have not used before.
How to check a shop you do not know
- Look for the company behind it: a registered name, an address and a way to contact a person.
- Read the About page. A genuine stockist describes itself; a copy of the brand’s own About text on a different domain is a warning sign.
- Check the size range. Solace London makes every style in UK sizes 4 to 16. A shop offering the same dress in XS to XL only, with no UK sizes, is worth questioning.
- Compare the product description with the one on solacelondon.com. Genuine stockists usually repeat the brand’s fabric and care lines closely.
- Be wary of a shop that has every style in every size and colour, including pieces from several seasons ago that have long sold out elsewhere.

What a genuine Solace London product page lists
Solace London describes its dresses in a consistent way, and a genuine listing will carry the same details. The examples below are taken from the product pages of styles we stock.
| Check | Genuine Solace London | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric description | Named by weight and finish, such as “medium weight twill with subtle sheen” and “lustrous heavy weight satin” | Vague words such as “premium fabric” with no composition |
| Composition | Listed by part, such as “Shell + Lining: 95% Polyester, 5% Elastane” | No composition at all, and a fibre that does not match the brand page |
| Construction | “Fully lined”, “Boned bodice for support”, “Concealed centre back zip fastening” | Visible zips where the brand page says concealed, no lining |
| Care | “Dry clean only. Cool iron. Do not tumble dry.” | Machine wash instructions on a structured gown |
| Sizes | UK 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 | Letter sizes only, and sizes outside UK 4 to 16 |
What a genuine Solace London dress is made of
Most Solace London dresses are polyester, with elastane in the stretch styles and the linings, and the brand says so plainly. The Dandridge Maxi Dress in Black, for example, lists a 100% polyester shell and a 95% polyester, 5% elastane lining, in a medium weight twill with a subtle sheen and a boned bodice. The Sedgewick Maxi Dress in Acai lists its body and sleeves as 100% polyester and its skirt as 95% polyester, 5% elastane. The Olivia Maxi Dress in Deep Orchid lists shell and lining in 95% polyester, 5% elastane, with a 100% polyester drape. The Newman Maxi Dress in Black is a 100% polyester heavy weight satin with a mini slip underdress.
There are exceptions, and they are a good test of a listing. The Marella Maxi Dress in Black is a crystal embellished woven crepe with viscose stretch, and its composition reads 97% viscose, 3% elastane. If a shop lists the Marella as polyester, its information did not come from the brand.
A synthetic composition is normal for the brand and says nothing about authenticity on its own. Our guide to whether Solace London is a luxury brand explains what that means for quality.
Checking the dress when it arrives
Once you have the dress, a few checks will tell you a lot.
- Lining. Most styles are fully lined, some only through the bodice and skirt. Compare with the product page.
- Boning. Where the page says “boned bodice for support”, you should feel firm, evenly spaced bones inside the bodice, and the bodice should hold its shape off the body.
- Zips. The brand uses concealed zips at the centre back and at the side. A heavy, visible zip on a style described as concealed is a warning sign.
- Fabric weight. Bonded crepe and twill feel dense and smooth, and heavy satin has real weight. A thin, shiny fabric that creases at a touch does not match the brand’s descriptions.
- Fit. The brand cuts close to the body. A copy is often looser and boxier, because a close fit is hard to get right.
Dupes versus fakes
A dupe and a fake are not the same thing. A dupe is a dress from another company that looks similar, sold under that company’s own name. It may copy the shape, and some are close copies, but it does not pretend to be Solace London. A fake uses the Solace London name, its labels and its product photographs to sell a dress the brand did not make.
Buying a dupe is a choice about style. Buying a fake, usually without knowing, is the problem this guide is about. If you like the Solace London look and want other genuine labels in the same spirit, our brands like Solace London guide covers designers with a similar approach.
Why we can say a dress is genuine
Coveti’s Solace London product listings describe every piece as authenticity verified. Our Is Coveti legit page sets out how the company works: Coveti sources directly from designers and partner boutiques, never from grey-market wholesalers, and every item is inspected by its authentication team. You can see the Coveti range, 343 styles in UK sizes 4 to 16, on our Solace London brand page.
If you are buying second hand, from a resale site and a private seller, ask for photographs of the inside of the dress, the zip and the care label, and compare the details with the brand’s product page for that style. Our Solace London size guide lists the body chart, which helps you check that a pre-owned dress is the size the seller says it is.
Other designers, same checks
The same approach works for most labels: start with the official domain, read the fabric and care lines, and compare the construction with the brand’s own description. We have written similar guides for spotting fake Casablanca and Toteme real versus fake. For a dress you plan to rent instead of buy, our guide to renting versus buying Solace London covers the platforms that list the label.
Frequently asked questions
How can you tell if a Solace London dress is real?
Compare the dress with the Solace London product page for that style. A genuine dress matches the listed composition, is lined where the page says so, has boning where it says “boned bodice for support”, uses concealed zips and carries dry clean only care instructions.

Are there fake Solace London websites?
