Herno at Coveti
Herno started out making men’s raincoats in cotton treated with castor oil, then added cashmere coats in the 1950s and opened stores in Osaka and Tokyo in 1968. From the 1980s it built its name on parkas and down jackets in very light nylon. Claudio Marenzi, the founders’ son, has led the company since the 2000s and brought the focus back to the Herno label. The headquarters in Lesa runs on its own solar power, and the technical line is called Laminar. Branding stays small: a metal logo plate on the back.
What to buy first
Start with a down jacket in Nylon Ultralight, the house fabric, which is water-resistant and feels close to silk. The La Giacca padded blazer is the piece that works best with tailoring. For cold, wet cities, look at the 2-Layer Windstopper parkas, rated to a 20,000 mm water column.
