Totême cardigans: cashmere, wool, compact knit and mohair
Totême makes the cardigan in five families, and each does a different job. Everything here links to the Totême collection at Coveti, the wider cardigans edit and the knitwear guide. The compact knit and fitted polo cardigans are slim, smooth and close to the body, the ones to wear as a top. The hammered button cardigans, in wool and in cotton, are about the metal shank buttons. The shawl-lapel cardigan is a heavy ribbed wool you wear as a jacket. The raglan-sleeve cashmere cardigan has a shirt collar and button cuffs, and the puffed cardigan is a cloud of mohair. 32 cardigans on Coveti, $756 to $1,170, median $1,030. This page is each one, what it is made of and how it fits.

The compact knit and polo cardigans
The compact knit cardigan is the house signature stretch knit, smooth and dense, with a clean neckline, slim sleeves and high patch pockets. It works with a skirt, a dress and denim alike. The fitted polo cardigan takes the lines of a polo shirt: a high collar, a button front and slightly cropped sleeves, in a smooth viscose blend. Both are slim fit.
The hammered button cardigans
The buttons are the point: metal shank buttons with a hammered surface down the placket and on the pockets. The wool version is 99% RWS wool in a relaxed fit, the one the brand suggests with jeans at the weekend. The cotton version is 100% organic GOTS cotton, made for warmer months, cut to a clean, true line.
The shawl-lapel cardigan
The heaviest of the group, a ribbed wool blend with curved shawl lapels, wide rounded sleeves and a double-breasted front with tonal buttons. The brand calls it a sculptural outerwear piece, and that is how to wear it: over a shirt in place of a jacket, in milk and mid grey melange.
The raglan-sleeve cashmere cardigan
Knitted from spongy 100% cashmere with raglan sleeves that soften the shoulder line, and borrowed shirting details, a point collar and button cuffs. The house suggests three ways to wear it: as a cardigan, over the shoulders and buttoned up as a shirt.
The puffed cardigan
The directional one: oversized, puffed proportions in a light, warm mohair blend, with an open front you overlap and leave to drape. The brand styles it over a dress at home. In bloom and off-white.
Sizing and care
Sizes run XXS to XXL. The brand advice is to size up if you are between sizes for a softer drape; the slim knits are meant to sit close. Hand wash the wool, cashmere, cotton and mohair cool, dry flat and store folded. The knitwear guide covers the crews, the cable knits and the rest.
