The Totême country jacket, country coat and quilted jackets

The country jacket is the Totême take on the waxed field jacket, the one people search for as the barn jacket. The pieces are in the Totême collection at Coveti; for other labels see designer jackets, and for the next step the jackets and blazers guide. It is a Signature, made from waxed cotton the brand sources from British heritage weavers, cut to the house oversized A-line, with a corduroy collar, a zip and press-stud front, a row of pockets and two back vents. Around it sit the long country coat, the zipped country jacket with a funnel neck, the summer country jacket in lighter gabardine, and two quilted pieces: the collared quilted jacket and the cinched puffer. 24 pieces on Coveti, $1,159 to $2,990, median $1,272. This page is each one and how to size it.

The country jacket

Waxed cotton is cotton finished with wax so it repels rain and softens with wear, and the brand sources it from British heritage weavers. The jacket has a corduroy collar and elbow patches, a zip with a press-stud placket over it, several front pockets and two back vents so it sits well over a knit. The lining is quilted with a light polyester filling, which makes it an autumn coat on its own. Bark, a deep brown, is the house shade.

The country coat

The same jacket taken long. It keeps the corduroy collar, the zip and press-stud front and the pockets, and adds a high back vent that shows a little of the quilted lining when you walk. The brand says to wear it as intended, which is roomy, and to take a size smaller for a neater line.

The zipped and summer country jackets

The zipped country jacket swaps the collar for a spacious funnel neck lined in corduroy and closes with a two-way zip, with neat jet pockets in place of the patch pockets. The summer country jacket is the warm-weather version in organic cotton gabardine, with the corduroy collar and the A-line kept; it is the one to throw over a linen dress.

The quilted jacket and the cinched puffer

The collared quilted jacket is a Garderob piece: the house took its quilted jacket, added a neat collar and lengthened the body and sleeves into a stronger A-line. The cinched puffer is the warmest piece here, in recycled polyamide with shearling lapels, and internal drawstrings pull the oversized body in at the waist. For more cold-weather options, see the shearling page.

How to care for waxed cotton

Dry clean only, per the brand. Do not put waxed cotton in a washing machine, which strips the wax. Let it dry naturally at room temperature after rain, and brush mud off once it is dry.

Sizing

All are cut generously. The brand says to take your usual size for the intended oversized fit and to size down for a closer one. Coveti lists UK 4 to 18; EU 36 is UK 8. The size guide has the conversion.
