Is Saiid Kobeisy a luxury brand? The couture, the atelier, the price and the wearers

Yes. Saiid Kobeisy is a luxury house by the tests that matter: it is a couture house first, with a ready-to-wear line cut with the same hand; it runs its own atelier in Beirut and showrooms in Paris, Dubai and Riyadh; it shows on the Paris couture calendar; and its gowns are worn on the red carpet by women who could wear anything. The couture test

Most “luxury” eveningwear labels are ready-to-wear houses that borrow the language of couture. Saiid Kobeisy works the other way round. The house showed its first couture collection in 2005 and did not launch ready-to-wear until 2010, five years later, and it still presents couture twice a year in Paris. Where the work is done is a stated fact, not a marketing line. The house’s own timeline places the first atelier in Beirut in 2002 and, in 2024, a new headquarters in Beirut Central District “showcasing the House’s showroom, studio, atelier, and creative spaces all under one roof.” Haute Couture News, reporting on the Fall Winter 2026 couture collection, notes that the hand embroidery on a couture piece takes about three months. The ready-to-wear does not carry that timescale, but it carries the same embroidery vocabulary, and on the current Coveti range 264 of 442 pieces are embroidered, beaded, sequinned and crystal set.

The price test

At Coveti the range starts at $360 for the Printed Sequin Asymmetrical Shirt in Indigo Print and rises to $16,075 for the Crepe Dress With Abstract Beading, with a median of $3,422. The plain pieces, tailoring, crepe columns and taffeta, sit between $430 and $8,167; the embellished gowns between $360 and $16,075. That puts the ready-to-wear well above the contemporary occasion labels and below the couture-only price of a made-to-order gown from the same house. The wearers test

Jennifer Lopez wore Saiid Kobeisy to the New York premiere of Good Night, and Good Luck on 3 April 2025, a fitted black velvet gown with an ivory taffeta cape, and the house published its own account of the dress. Sheryl Lee Ralph chose a gown from the Spring Summer 2026 couture collection for the 2026 Actor Awards on 1 March 2026, reported by SheKnows. The one caveat

Saiid Kobeisy is a family-scale house, not a conglomerate brand. There is no Wikipedia page, no perfume licence and no logo line to buy into at the bottom of the range. Prices at Coveti move with the season, and the older collections are priced below the current one, which is why the sale page is worth reading before the edit. If the definition of luxury is a century of archive, this is not that. If the definition is a working atelier, a couture calendar and a red-carpet record, Saiid Kobeisy passes.

For Passage Privé, the Fall Winter 2026 couture collection, the designer “draws inspiration from the elegance and cultural richness of the early twentieth century,” Tatiana Stolyarova wrote for Haute Couture News on 3 August 2026, noting that the house was “founded in Beirut in 2000” and now runs “couture, bridal and ready-to-wear collections” from Paris, Dubai, Riyadh and Beirut.
