Saiid Kobeisy glossary: the shades, the silhouettes and the collections explained

Saiid Kobeisy names things. Its shades have names, Italian Plum, Marlin, Reed, Salsa Rosa, its couture collections have names, The Warrior, Passage Privé, and its product pages use a vocabulary of their own, cascading, fully embroidered, overskirt, bow cape, that a shopper meets without a key. This glossary is the key: 34 terms, each defined from the house’s own pages and from the pieces at Coveti, and the three most-asked-about shades linked to a product so the name can be seen.

“Weaving in inspiration from faraway cultures, the house’s works are a striking mélange of opposites, where the modern meets the classic, the sensual softens the bold, and the unexpected twist makes a lasting impression,” the house writes on saiidkobeisy.com.

The terms

Cape

The house signature: a length of the dress fabric cut into the shoulder seam and falling behind, replacing a wrap. On the couture it can reach the floor; on the ready-to-wear it is cut to the hem of the dress.

Bow cape

A taffeta cape shaped as a single large bow at the back of the neck, sold as a separate piece in the Fall Winter 2025 collection in gold, bronze, Italian Plum and Jet Black.

Cascading silhouette

The house’s own phrase for a skirt that falls in layers from a fitted waist, in tulle, organza and taffeta.

Fully embroidered

A piece where the embroidery covers the whole surface rather than being placed along the body; the house uses the phrase on its product pages for its most worked gowns.

Placed embroidery

Embroidery traced along a line, the bodice, a shoulder, a hem, with the ground fabric visible around it. The more common Kobeisy treatment.

Jet Black

The house name for its black, used across every collection. Written “Jetblack” on some product pages.

Italian Plum

The deep aubergine purple of the Fall Winter 2025 collection.

Marlin

A periwinkle blue, Fall Winter 2025.

Antigua Sand

Despite the name, a pale powder blue, Fall Winter 2025.

Light Gold

The champagne-gold embroidered tulle of the Fall Winter 2025 and Spring Summer 2025 collections; recorded as Metallic at Coveti.

Ice Blue

A pale blue on embroidered tulle, Fall Winter 2025.

Skin

The house name for its nude, used under gold embroidery and as a tulle ground.

Off White

The house name for its cream white; written “Offwhite” on some product pages.

Kaftan

A floor-length, sleeved, embroidered crepe dress, cut with a cape from the shoulders on the 2025 versions, made for Ramadan evenings and Gulf summers.

Overskirt

A detachable full skirt worn over a fitted dress and a jumpsuit, giving one piece two silhouettes.

High-low

A hem cut short in front and long behind, on the 2024 crepe and neoprene dresses.

SK belt

The house’s own belt, in leather with an SK buckle, shown with many of the crepe and neoprene pieces and sold separately.

Style number

The two-digit number in the house’s SKU that identifies a style within a season; Coveti uses it to tell apart styles that share a name.

The Warrior

The Fall Winter 2025 couture collection, shown in Paris in July 2025, the first to include menswear.

Passage Prive

The Fall Winter 2026 couture collection, drawn from the early twentieth century.

Little K

A couture collection the house shows by year alongside its main couture line, 2024 to 2026, presented as lookbook looks on its own site.

Sources and method

Checked on 20 September 2026 by Gemma Deeks, fashion editor at Coveti. Product facts, the fabrics, the embroidery, the colourways and the size run, are the brand’s own product-page text; counts, prices and price ranges are Coveti’s live catalogue on that date and move with stock; the history of the house, the showrooms and the wearers come from the brand’s own pages and the press articles listed below, each read on the date above. Where a claim could not be checked against one of these it was left out, and where the fitting room is giving its own advice the page says so.
