Saiid Kobeisy fabrics and care: what each cloth is for and how to keep it
Saiid Kobeisy works in a short list of fabrics and uses each for one job: crepe for the column and the tailoring, tulle for the embroidery, lace for the sheer bodice, taffeta and organza for volume, brocade and velvet for winter, sequinned fabric for the pieces that catch the light, and, in the 2024 collections, neoprene, scuba and mikado for structure. The house does not publish a fibre composition and does not publish a care label online, so this page does two things it does not do: it says what each fabric is for, and it says how to keep it.
For Passage Privé, the Fall Winter 2026 couture collection, the designer “draws inspiration from the elegance and cultural richness of the early twentieth century,” Tatiana Stolyarova wrote for Haute Couture News on 3 August 2026, noting that the house was “founded in Beirut in 2000” and now runs “couture, bridal and ready-to-wear collections” from Paris, Dubai, Riyadh and Beirut.

Crepe
The house crepe is a heavy evening crepe with enough weight to hold a floor-length column without lining it stiff, and it takes a fitted bodice, a cape and a cascading skirt equally. It is also the tailoring cloth for the jackets and trousers. Steam on low, never press the embroidery, and hang it; folded crepe creases along the fold and takes a steamer to recover. The Embellished Mini Dress in Jet Black is the reference.
Tulle and lace
Tulle is the embroidery ground: fine, sheer, and cut in layers so the embroidery sits on one layer and the skirt moves on the others. Lace is used for sheer bodices and sleeves and for the striped and pleated long dresses. Both go to a specialist cleaner who is told the piece is embroidered, and both are stored with the layers free, tulle hanging and lace flat between tissue. The Embroidered Tulle Fitted Dress in Light Gold shows the tulle work.
Taffeta and organza
Taffeta gives the house its bows, its capes and its fullest skirts; organza does the same at half the weight. Both crease, so both are steamed from the inside and never pressed, and both are stored hanging with room around them. The Bow Cape in Italian Plum, Style 40 is taffeta at its crispest.
Velvet, brocade and sequins
Velvet and brocade are the winter fabrics, on the Fall Winter collections: velvet for the fitted long dresses, brocade for the structured ones. Velvet is steamed and never folded with the pile compressed; brocade is pressed on the reverse over a cloth so the metallic thread keeps its shine. Sequinned fabric is stored inside out and never ironed. The Strapless Dress with Embroidered Detailing in Italian Plum is the velvet reference.
Neoprene, scuba and mikado
These are the Spring Summer 2024 fabrics: bonded, structured, colour-blocked, and cheaper than the embroidered pieces because they carry the silhouette without embroidery. They store flat away from heat and go to an ordinary dry cleaner.
A note on alterations
The house offers alterations at the time of purchase, in store and online, minor ones complimentary. For a piece bought at Coveti, a good tailor can take in a crepe column, shorten a taffeta hem and adjust a jacket; the embroidered, beaded and sheer pieces should go to a specialist who will move the embroidery with the seam. The size and fit guide says which pieces have room to alter.
