Aura is Shona Joy’s new semi sheer range for warm weather, and it is built as a wardrobe: dresses, tops, a pant and a skirt in one fabric and four colours, made to mix. Here is every piece at Shona Joy at Coveti, how the fabric behaves, how the pieces fit and how to put them together.

The fabric

Every Aura piece is cut from the same light, semi sheer woven: 84% lyocell and 16% polyester. Shona Joy describes it as a smooth, soft touch fabric with a subtle sheen and an airy texture. Lyocell is a cellulose fibre made from wood pulp, valued for its soft drape and breathability; the polyester adds strength. Most pieces are lined; the shirred dresses have a cotton lining.

The colours

Ivory: a soft warm white. Rosewater: a soft pink. Rouge: a deep raspberry red. Black. Not every piece comes in every colour, so the sets below are grouped by shade.

The sets

Blouson top and pant, Ivory and Rouge. The Aura Sheer Blouson Top in Ivory and Aura Sheer Blouson Top in Rouge have a V neckline with a hook and eye at the bust, blouson sleeves elasticated at the edges and an adjustable tie at the hem. The Aura Semi Sheer Pant in Ivory and Aura Semi Sheer Pant in Rouge have a mid rise, an elasticated waistband with a tie and a wide leg.

Halter and skirt, Black and Rosewater. The Aura Semi Sheer Halter Top in Black and Aura Semi Sheer Halter Top in Rosewater have a gathered halter neckline, a keyhole at the back with a tie and a relaxed crop. The Aura Shirred Maxi Skirt in Black and Aura Shirred Maxi Skirt in Rosewater have an elasticated shirred waistband, a gathered yoke and a loose maxi skirt.

How Aura fits

The tops and dresses are relaxed and designed to sit away from the body, except the shirred dresses, which are fitted through the bust and waist. The pant and skirt have elasticated waists. The separates are sized XS to XL; the dresses run UK 4 to 18.

How to wear Aura

As a set, the pieces look like a jumpsuit and a dress. How Shona Joy sizing works

Shona Joy cuts its dresses in Australian sizes, and an AU size carries the same number as a UK size, so an AU8 is a UK 8. The Aura separates, the Celina shirt and the Mirelle dress come in letter sizes, XS to XL. Caring for the Aura fabric

Shona Joy’s care label for the Aura pieces is gentle: turn the piece inside out, hand wash cold and separately with mild soap, rinse cold, and do not machine wash, wring, soak, bleach nor tumble dry. Dry it flat in the shade and cool iron on the reverse with a protective cloth. It can also be dry cleaned. Keep the fabric away from rough surfaces and jewellery clasps, which can catch a fine semi sheer weave.
